Lula Bell started with an artist dream to share fun whimsical art that has a feel good theme. At art shows, customers frequently say, "Wow, this painting makes me smile!"
When my children were born I decided to leave my position as a Family Therapist to stay home with my kids. I contiued to particiapte in Art shows but told my husband that I wanted to start an art company once my youngest entered first grade. I don't think he believed me.
So while the kids were young I began to draw and paint anytime I could. I painted during their naps, while at the park, and even at the pool.
Finally, my youngest started first grade and I started Lula Bell Designs, LLC. I read all that I could about starting a business and sought out business advisors that understood my dream. Oh, I have learned so much!
Today Lula Bell has grown and so have my children. I now have five "Glitter Gals" that work with me and we are in stores throughout the USA.
I continue to create "smile for your soul" designs and draw any chance I get. I am proud to say we print all our products in USA on recycled papers and the "Glitter Gals" hand glitter every card for that extra special touch.
Artist Perspective by:
Amy M. Gantt
As a Mom and former child therapist, I believe we all need to slow down and take time to smile. A smile on your face is "a smile for your soul."
I create my work using gouache, watercolor and pen & ink. My whimsical illustrations are lighthearted, lively and vibrant and express my "glass is half full" view of life.
"My real art education comes from life experiences including life with my husband, two creative children, one noisy cat and a dog that sings Happy Birthday," explains Amy.
Amy earned her B.S. in Education from Miami University, Ohio and an M.A. from the University of Dayton. She completed classes in illustration and graphic design at the Columbus College of Art and Design and fine art classes at the Cincinnati Art Academy. She has participated in juried art shows and her products are in stores throughout the USA.
